Finding unique spots close to home can be difficult, especially places you’ll want to revisit time and time again. When I visited Wolwespruit in Erasmuskloof, Pretoria, I knew this was a place I could never grow tired of. With mountain biking and hiking trails, as well as the opportunity to paint ceramics at Create Wolwespruit, there are more than enough activities to keep the whole family busy.
PS: Our favourite thing about Wolwespruit is that it is dog friendly!

There are three hiking trails available: the easiest trail is 5km, followed by a 6.5 km trail, and the longest hiking trail is 10 km. We’ve hiked the 5 km trail, and it was easy enough to maintain a conversation while walking. The 6.5 km trail offers a moderate challenge, ideal for those looking to elevate their hiking experience. Meanwhile, the 10 km trail provides a more substantial trek, promising stunning views and a sense of accomplishment at the end.

2. Cycling on the Mountain Bike Trail

Wolwespruit MTB offers an exhilarating range of mountain bike trails, catering to riders of all skill levels. For those seeking a leisurely ride, the “Wolf Pack Safari” presents a 10 km easy trail, providing a scenic and enjoyable experience. If you’re looking to elevate your biking adventure, the “Wolf TREK” offers a 10 km intermediate trail with a balanced mix of challenges and rewards. For the more experienced riders craving an adrenaline rush, the “Werewolf Traverse” awaits, a 3 km advanced trail that promises an exciting and demanding journey. If you’re up for the ultimate biking escapade, the “Whole Trail” is a recommended 23 km route that combines various terrains and levels of difficulty, ensuring an unforgettable biking expedition. LTFRM Restaurant is the go to restaurant on the premises. While it can become quite busy at times, the wait is undoubtedly worthwhile. Our orders, the sumptuous chocolate pancakes and delectable avocado toast, only amounted to R100 per person – an excellent option for budget-conscious diners. With both indoor and outdoor seating options, the restaurant offers an incredible dining experience, complete with an overall inviting atmosphere.
