Our experience feeding the giraffe at Neck and Deck restaurant

Feeding the Giraffe
We bought some giraffe friendly food for R50 at the front desk, and asked what the “rules” were. There is no specific time when feeding is allowed, you can try at any time it is up to the giraffe if she is hungry or not.
We made our way up to the deck and noticed that the giraffe was a few metres away, we stood there for a few minutes before she came walking up to us. At that point there was a few people and kids also on the deck waiting to pet and feed this friendly giraffe. I don’t think she was very hungry at that point and she took a nibble here and there. However she allowed us to give her plenty of head scratches and she got up close and personal with us. She calmy walked alongside the deck as if she wanted to give everyone the opportunity to touch and feed her.

Lunch at Neck & Deck
We sat close to the wood fired pizza oven thus we got to experience how the pizza was made from scratch. The pizza was tasteful however it could have done with some extra rib pieces here and there. The sirloin steak and side salad was delicious. We paired our lunch with our favourite drinks, gin and pink tonic and a beer.
There is ample seating inside and out to enjoy your meal in the style and comfort of your choosing. The deck outside over looks the giraffe and zebra enclosure. The seating options inside ranges from the classic table and chair seating options to comfy couches where you can enjoy a drink with friend creating the perfect environment for a catch up session with friend both old and new.
The front desk and restaurant are slow and staff is not always friendly and welcoming, however we still had a good time.
